“The assessment is very good. This team plays their own football with a very strong team. After the World Cup, Girona took a step forward. The team as a whole is at a very good level. Head coach Michel did a great job with everything. Staying calm while playing good football helps a lot.”

Carcel also insisted that he did not consider the team’s absence from European competition a problem.

“The coach wants to score 53 points, but we have a tough schedule. I thought the same as I said. We have the second lowest budget in the league, and we’re not going to increase it much. Playing in three parts is too much. Our task is to gain a foothold in La Liga. It would be easier if the team didn’t play twice a week.”

Carcel also spoke about the club’s transfer policy.

“With Paulo Gassaaniga, we have taken a step forward. Now we have five midfielders, Arnau Martinez, Miguel Gutierrez, Oriol Romeu, Aleix Garcia, Victor Tsygankov, Christian Stuani. We don’t have a striker, so we will sign someone if Tati Castellanos leaves,” Diari de Girona quoted Carcel as saying.
